Transit of Venus, June 5, 2012

Wow!  What a year for celestial events!  I had the once and a lifetime opportunity to be a part of history and witness the Transit of Venus through the lens of my DSLR.  For those who are not familiar,  transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable celestial phenomena and occur in pairs, eight years apart, which are themselves separated by more than a century.  What does this mean?  Well, this event will not happen again in our lifetime as the this was the last transit until the year 2117.  What is more amazing is the small black dot that is moving across the face of the sun is the planet Venus, which puts the size of our Sun into perspective.
